A Story of Survival

Wednesday, April 22, 2020

In June 1991, sitting in his hospital room and contemplating cardiac bypass surgery, author Jerry Bagel’s father said, “Vus ich hot adorch geleibt! – What I have lived through!” Jerry thought he knew his dad’s history and believed he was referring to his recent heart issues. Jerry’s parents, Helen Friedman and Sam Bagel, were Holocaust survivors from Central Poland.

In honor of Yom HaShoah, Dr. Jerry Bagel will share his parents’ remarkable story of survival, tracing their journey from the shtetel to the Plosnsk ghetto, Birkenau, Zalzaim and, ultimately to New Jersey.
