Beth Chaim's History
The Congregation began in the spring of 1971 with just a few dozen interested people and has grown to over 750 families in an ever-expanding area of communities representing East and West Windsor, Hamilton Square, Plainsboro, South Brunswick, Princeton, Cranbury and beyond.
Currently, the Religious School serves over 500 children, and includes an award-winning Special Education program. The Pre-school features programs for children 2½ to 6 years of age, with a "Mommy and Me" class, Afternoon Enrichment Programs and A.M. and P.M. Kindergarten Enrichment sessions in conjunction with the West Windsor/Plainsboro School System.
Rabbi Eric Wisnia has been the spiritual leader of the congregation since 1977. Cantor Stuart Binder co-leads the Friday evening Shabbat Services at 8:00 P.M., Saturday at 10 A.M. Once a month Family Services are held at 7:30 P.M. on Friday evenings. Please check the calendar for details, or call the office for more information.
Congregation Beth Chaim maintains its leadership in the Jewish community with groups and committees to meet the needs of every age. President Rosanne Smolowitz leads the active Board of Trustees and a multitude of committees creating a true "house of life" or a "beth chaim."
A recent building addition is a further testimony to the astounding growth of this remarkable congregation, adding a chapel, expanded offices and more classrooms.
